The Valley of the Kings

The Wadi which is an Arabic word that means "valley" consists of two valleys, the east valley where the majority of the royal tombs are situated and the west valley.

At east valley, we have 64 tombs 24 of them for kings.

The new kingdom’s pharaoh had to find a perfect way to keep their tombs invisible or unreachable and hard for the grave robbers to find it.

Let’s take you back to the old kingdom’s pharaohs as we call them the great builders, that name given to the cause of the great pyramids which has no equal anywhere else but the new kingdom’s pharaohs had to choose their own design.

Ineni the architect who had his way to find a new style of tombs.

The architect had a great idea 💡 which was cutting throw the mountain and the rubble and debris will be used to cover and hide the entrance which means it will be impossible for anyone to find the tomb.

The architect had to do something first before telling the pharaoh about his idea he had to check the quality of the bedrock and after a while about six months of digging finally he found the valley and that was the beginning.

The valley of the kings was the beginning of arts and craftsmen, before this we need to know that the pharaoh gave the order to build his tomb, not a long time after the coronation, the architect was the first person who gave the pharaoh more than one blueprint and once he chooses the blueprint he likes, the architect told him the time he needs to finish the tomb.

It was teamwork and craftsmen were classified, stonecutters, plasterers, draftsmen, sculptors and painters.

But we still don’t know the mystery of dye and pigmentation.

One more thing you need to know if the pharaoh died suddenly while they were working they will stop working but they had time till they mummify the body which takes 70 days, which means the workers and craftsmen been rushed to finish the tomb.
